U.S.S. Winfield Hancock |

![]() This is my 1/1400 Galaxy-Class Variant (phaser banks on nacelles and three impulse engines) the U.S.S. Winfield Hancock. I had originally bought this model back in 1998-9, slapped it together and called it quits. Then I came across this website and it gave me some great ideas as to how to improve it. I stripped it and started from scratch, doing the dreaded aztec pattern by hand. I used a base coat of Testors Camouflage Grey and the pattern was about 3/4 Light Sea Grey and 1/4 Camouflage Grey. I got some awesome custom decals from JT Graphics (from Federationmodels.com) which really brought out the detail in the model. The lifeboats are almost as tedious as the aztecing. The windows were done with a black Pilot pen and white paint with a toothpick. The pen ink takes an awful long time to dry, so let it sit at least over night before you handle it; I made the mistake of touching it right after. The base was reinforced with a piece of wood and a slab-job internal brace. It isn't very straight so I might have to go back and rework that when I get the time.
