The workhorse of the Imperial Navy, the TIE/Utility is a multi-pupose craft able to withstand the harshest environments. It is rumored that over 10 million of these were used to create the DeathStar II. Grand Admiral Thrawn has also used the TIE?U to launch "sleeper" attacks by having the TIE/U's attach themselves to the hull of a craft, then when the craft returns to base, plant explosives and sabotage the base. The craft has 2 main lifting arms and 2 smaller manipulators. Also in the opening side compartments are stored a variety of cutters, welders and various other tools. The TIE/U is also deployed as a mine sweeper, though not too many pilots return from these missions. The manipulator arms are removable and can be replaced with anything from hydraulic shears to laser cannons.
