USS Defiant

By Darian Kovach

This is my T.M Lindsey 1/1400 USS Defiant. Sadly, I do not believe he makes them anymore. It was 5 pieces (body, 2 nacelles, the nose and a docking clamp). It looked great right out of the box, with very little flash to clean up. The detail on it is incredibly crisp. Lots of places to lavish detail on it.

The main body is Tamiya Flat White mixed with Tamiya Medium Blue. The end result was a very cool grey. Then I hand painted the individual panels (I have a biiiig magnifying glass), by mixing more of the medium blue with the flat white. Each shade up I added more blue, until the darkest, when I added Tamiya flat black to it. I then mixed a touch of black with Khaki for the escape pods. I used a combination of the Lindsey decals (the front sensors, specifically) and after market EXCELLENT JT Graphic decals.

Finally, after I sealed it, I mixed chalk pastels with water and "washed it", bringing out the panel lines. I also did the Windows with a similar wash. I sealed that in, and did a matte coat. From there I took the pastels and weathered away. I wanted a dirty, grimy ship that looks like it was a war horse. I think I came pretty close.
