Jedi Starfighter

By Joseph Osborn

This is the AMT/Ertl Jedi Starfighter, #38314. My 10-yr old son and I built it in early 2006 mainly as an exercise in how to have fun building a model. The kit was built straight from the box with no additional parts. My son designed the stripe pattern, which was loosely based on Anakin's podracer and starfighter from the cartoons. They were masked & hand-painted. All the paints on the ship were inexpensive craft acrylics glossed up a bit with some Future. The astromech was painted with Testor's enamels. A pilot figure would have been welcome, but alas, AMT did not include one. I suppose a generic 1/24 racecar driver could be adapted to fit into the cockpit. A very pleasant build and plenty of opportunity with this kit.
