This is the "Silent Running" Huey resin kit Made by Posigrade Creations. It is a good kit but I rebuilt much of it to make it more accurate and fix some problems that the resin parts had.

The body center section was scratch-built using .125" thick styrene and all the surface details were added with styrene sheet. The resin side pods were filled in with putty (some surface air bubbles) and all the rivet details were sanded off. I then added brass pins to replicate (more accurately) the rivet detail. The resin "legs" didn't work too well for me so I replaced the resin parts with steel springs. These were positioned by using the resin legs reshaped and trimmed down to fit into the new spring legs.

The "Arm" was completely scratch-built using sheet and strip styrene. The hydraulic pistons were K&S alum tubing cut to size and positioned in place on the various arm parts. Straight pins make up the "hinge" points. The hydralic lines were added with fine black wire. The "hand" was also scratch-built and I made up a small "sapling" using a real grass root from the yard with Woodland Scenics details glued in place on the "branches". The "dirt" ball on the bottom is real dirt with small roots glued in place. The "tree" was then sprayed with clear lacquer to seal it.

Much of the details were added with alum tubing and wire (such as under the light). A wood base was made to fit the resin "Pod" base that was included in the kit. The black & white decal art was done on the computer in Photoshop and JT Graphics did their usual fine job printing them up. The "American Airlines" decal was done from a graphic and printed on glossy paper and added to the base.

The model was finished with Tamiya acrylic paints and weathered with Black and Burnt Umber oils.
