Kara's Mark II Viper

By Alfred Wong

These were built up from two test shots of the 1/48 Viper Mk.2s I mastered for Sci Fi Models. The production kit is not offered with the landing gear, don't ask me why. The only changes I made to the kits were replacing the tiny wingtip lights with clear red nibs and (for the flying version) I Dremelled out the solid pilot's visor and added a face from a female civilian figure, then a glob of Kristal Klear was dropped on it to similuate the class face plate. For the landed version I made a pilot figure from splicing various 1/48 figure parts and adding details from epoxy putty - it's supposed to be Starbuck. I got some really nice decals from JT Graphics with the intention of doing a different female pilot's ship for the flying version, but aside from Starbuck's name there were only male pilot names, (very disappointing...I've already complained to Jeff about that) so both ended up being finished as Starbuck's ride. Yes, I know the "Beware of jet blast" stencil on the landed version is crooked, I use Solvaset on my decals and that sucker must have shifted in the Solvaset when drying, which I didn't notice, obviously. Until I can get a replacement decal for it, it will have to stay.
