I built this model of the SeaQuest DSV -- the Monogram kit in 1/600 scale -- when it was released back in 1994. Although I was quite comfortable with an airbrush, I was, at the time, unfamiliar with washing techniques, hence the fine hair-like cracks that cover the exterior were not highlighted.

Recently, I returned to the model to re-photograph it for my Fantastic Plastic website and decided to give it a nice black acrylic wash. Here are some revealing Before and After photos that show what a little thinned black acrylic paint and some alcohol can do after 11 years!
