Tau Police Cruiser |

by Ryan Friesen Scale: 28mmI wanted to build a model that captured the look of a modern police cruiser, with the sleek black or dark blue paint scheme that I admired in my home town. I decided that the Tau Devilfish vehicle from Games Workshop had the right lines, and so I decided to make the basis of my conversion. I didn't really modify the kit much on the outside, but I did build a full cockpit and dressed up the troop compartment. I also replaced the intake louvers with a mesh screen effect. It seemed to me that a police cruiser would be more lightly armed than a military vehicle, so I left off all the weapons except for those on the ROV-type drones nested in the forward fuselage. I also replaced the large antennae with smaller versions mounted in the turret along with a set of warning flashers. |

The paint scheme isn't quite what I had in mind
originally, but now that it's done, I think that it reflects some of the
police themes I wanted to capture.
Whether the vehicle belongs in the Tau universe, as a rear echelon vehicle used to police captured planets in a defensive role, or whether I prefer to think of it as a futuristic police car I haven't decided--the basis is obscure enough that I don't mind mixing the mileau a bit. Markings will follow once I've decided. Image: Front/right view Image: Underneath Image: Closeup, cannon Image: Closeup, cockpit
