Corvette Walker

[Thanks and Hail! Zog]

Sponsored in part by Clyde 'Zog' Jones. Thanks!

by Robert Burns

Scale: 1/25

The Corvette Walker was built by a San Diego State University Engineering professor after he lost a bet. The professor bet that his 1968 Stingray (a one-off prototype from the Chevrolet design studio) could beat his buddie's Viper SRT-10 coupe in a 1/8th mile drag race. The loser of the race had to make the car into something that couldn't drive on wheels. Front yard plant holder, museum display, boat: whatever.

Obviously he lost. He tried to design something practical, like a boat Vette, but after watching the last Star Wars movie with his son, he decided to go for something never seen before. He fabricated the legs using blueprints he found on line. After a year in the works, this is the result. His first visit will be to see his buddy...

The model was built using the Revell 1/25th scale Badlwin Motion 1969 Corvette. I combined the rear half of the roof with that of a 1967 Corvette Stingray. The body was painted with Tamiya Mica Blue. I combined it with two sets of legs from AMT/Ertl's Star Wars AT-ST. The is actually just a test bed for another project. My next one will be a 1959 Chevy Impala with Walker legs. I just needed to assemble the legs to see where I needed to fill in the massive open spaces and the huge seams. I intend to place it in a diorama where the Walker is being chased by several San Diego Police and Sheriff squad cars. We get plenty of chases here; including cars, motorcycles, busses, and even a M60 A3 tank! I think a Walker is the only thing that will suprise anyone.
