Stormy Petrel - a: one fond of strife
b: a harbinger of trouble

This model represents 100 hundred tons of state-of-the-art assault battlemech. It was developed under the Battletech gaming rules, (which unfortunately really limits the number of guns you can have.) I won't bother you with the Battletech history leading to this model, I don't pay it much attention anyway.

As to the model particulars, it was scratch built in 1/35 scale. The internal structure is Plexiglas (free from work) with sheet styrene as skin and various components. Missiles are turned aluminum, as are the 4 laser barrels, and the AMS gun on the nose. The detail inside the damaged gun are pieces from an aircraft instrument. A few springs, some steel rod, and a couple of paperclips round out the parts list.

Cockpit instrumentation, seat, and figures are from the scrap box. I did modify the figures some, trying to make them look more futuristic. Even turned one or two into females. Something the model companies don't seem to do.

Painting is pretty simple, Metalizer as a base coat, areas were masked off with Maskoid (which works well if you remove it reasonably soon), and air brushed with normal model enamels. Weathering was done with various colors and particulates mixed with matte lacquer.
