Coldweather Clonetrooper

[Thanks and Hail! Zog]

Sponsored in part by Clyde 'Zog' Jones. Thanks!

by Allison Cottreau

Scale: 1/9

The inspiration from this model first came from an illustration in the book "Star Wars: Incredible Cross-Sections". It depicted a scout trooper on a speeder bike on Hoth. The next part of the inspiration came from Star Wars Episode III with all the Clonetrooper variations. The result is I combined those ideas to create a cold weather Clonetrooper loosly based on an Arc Trooper, with tidbits picked up from other troopers as seen in Revenge of the Sith, all built around the original stock figure from the old AMT Speeder Bike kit.

While the speeder bike itself is built pretty much straight out of the box with the only custom element being the paint scheme, the trooper figure is where the bulk of the work was done. First using epoxy putty I modified the chest plate from the scout trooper to more closely resemble the style seen on the clonetrooper. Next I rebuilt the helmet by taking off the excess styrene from the visor and around the original helmet. I then used sheet styrene to build the rim of the helmet, and epoxy putty to build the hood. Lastly and again using epoxy putty I added details such as a bigger shoulder armor, straps, forearm communications unit, and so on.
