AT-PT Patrol

[Thanks and Hail! Zog]

Sponsored in part by Clyde 'Zog' Jones. Thanks!

by Matt Springer

Scale: 25mm

This diorama depicts an AT-PT Stormtrooper unit patrolling an alien Twilek farmer's field for rebel activity after an X-wing crash landed in the area. As the lone Imperial officer suspects, the rebels are waiting in ambush. Despite the pleas of the green tentacled farmer and his son, a fire fight will ensue with two hapless--but hungry-- Shaaks (space cows) caught in the crossfire.

The idea for this trippy little display came from watching (behind a pillow) the Order 66 scene from Episode 3, with its fantastic alien vistas and cold-hearted clones. Lacking any prequel kits, I opted for a similar scenario set in the original trilogy time frame.

The AT-PT's were produced by West End Games, and were painted using Vallejo acrylics, and were highlighted with Testors Acryl paints in a Clone Wars paint scheme. The figures are also from West End Games, and were hand painted using Vallejo acrylics. The Rodian Pilot however, was a conversion using a Wizards of the Coast metal Rodian Soldier's head glued to a West End Games X-wing pilot's body. The X-wing is from Fine Molds, with decals from J-Bot. The dug-in Rebel Tank is from a resin kit of unknown origin I painted and decaled to better suit George Lucas's universe. The space cows are children's toys repainted to more closely match those in Attack of the Clones. The space trees are from Games Work shop, while the rest of the terrain are Armorcast resin pieces. The base was made with foam, Woodland Scenic's flock, and painted baking soda.

Thanks again to the good folks who frequent this site for their encouragement, good advice, and quirky sense of humor. Thanks also to J&L for such a neat site and to J-Bot for the spiffy decals.
