In the near future, human kind gonna need powerful and flexible labor
droids to explore systems and set new colonies. The Suzuki Cyclops is
one of the oldest models of labor droids used in the industry for more
than a century. Its short legs allow this droid to work in very
restraint spaces (mine tunnels or ship gangways) with great ease. Its
two arms are equipped with universal tool sockets. However, its most
remarkable feature is its Cyclops eye, a bubble protected set of
sensors and detectors.
In this scene, a technician of the Space Colony Astriex have just
receive is last order from Terra. Is fixing the brand new Honda power
chainsaw on an old battered unit. After setting and testing the
controls on the back of the droid, I’ll be install the power pick
waiting in the other crate.
The Model
I used a Tamiya 1/35 Flakpanzer turret for the body of the droid. The
legs are parts from a Lost in space robot and an AT-ST. Arms are from
an unknowned mecha kit, expanded to an appropriate length. Controls on
the back are from different bits (car motor, etc.) and the top “brain”
is also from the lost in space model (with a motorcycle wheel rim added
inside). The technician is a resin figure from Phebus Creations
(France). The crates are made from chewy Life Saver candy trays… Most
of the paint is Ral Partha colors applied with brushes. Weathering
technics with dry chalks and sylver Prismacolor pencil.
