Scale: 1/6
I have had this diorama on my mind ever since I saw Star Wars episode II and heard that line. I used two of the droids from the 1/6th scale AMT/ERTL Stap with Battle Droid kits and a 1/6th scale C-3PO vinyl kit from Kaiyodo/Screamin along with two blasters from the SSM store. I originally planned this project for the Star Wars contest but could not get everything together in time; the droids have legs so they qualify for this contest as well - lucky me.

I started with the C-3PO battle droid, the vinyl of the Screamin kit was very thin so I decided to put a light in his head and leave the eyes unpainted so they would light up. The battle droids were built pretty much straight out of the box except for repositioning the arms and hands to hold the blasters and running the wires for the light down through the C-3PO battle droid's body to a battery box inside of the base. Battle droid number two has had a run in with the business end of a cranky Jedi's lightsaber depriving him of his head and weapon. I tried to match the color of the droids to my reference pictures by mixing rust color, red and tan using Testor paints and an airbrush. Rust-All was used to weather the downed battle droid heavier than C-3PO because in the movie he looked pretty clean.

The base is a large plastic display case without the clear top. I covered it with a piece of styrofoam added arena sand made of corn meal and Testor's putty painted tan with a few blaster holes added here and there. The scene in the movie when C-3PO says "DIE Jedi Dogs!!" only shows him from the chest up so I felt comfortable adding his unfortunate companion.
