T-16 Skyhopper

by Gary Filipiak

Scale: ~ 1/35

This is a scratch built T-16 Skyhopper, it is about 1/35 scale. It was built from styrene sheets and tubes with some kitbashed details and a Revell fighter pilot. It stands about 14" tall on its stand (which was made from wire hangers and a peanut butter jar lid) and has a 8" wing span. I used drawings from "Star Wars The Essential Guide to Vehicles and Vessels" as a template for the model. All the panel lines were scribed with a scribing tool. It was painted in a custom light gray with a light black wash. The weathering was done with some airbrushing and by dabbing on some silver with a Q-tip to simulate paint chipping.

This was my first scratch built model and it took me about six months to build working on and off. It was frustrating at times to try to figure out how accomplish many of the tasks that come with building something like this but it was well worth it.
