Nebulon-B

by Marco Scheloske

Scale: 1/2500

Medical power...

A vessel of the Nebulon-B class was first shown at the end of "Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back", serving as a medical ship. A fragile looking design, but very unique, even for a galaxy far, far away...

This is a resin kit produced by Scale Solutions, of Australia. I had to eliminate some seams and a bit of flash, but not much. Painting was done with a medium grey basecoat, followed by a wash with artist oil color (the very first time I used that kind of stuff!), and a final drybrushing with light grey and flat white. A few spare decals have been used for a few interesting looking details and the red stripes on the upper forward hull. The windows were made with a light blue gel pen, except the large sickbay one, which was painted golden yellow.

The model came without a base, the one I used was purchased from the Starship Modeler store, also made of resin. Painted with medium grey, black and two tones of red it became a proud rebel / old republic insignia.

I wanted the Nebulon-B frigate to rest in the middle of the display, but the thin spine isn`t able to hold the tip of the support brass rod, so I drilled a hole into the forward hull and made two angles into the rod so that everything was aligned the way I wanted it to be.

With ships like this there will for sure be a new hope...
