This is my diorama of an X-wing being fired upon while skimming the surface of the Death Star. This project took me anout 13 months to complete. It was constructed on a 32" x 79" door and consists of many different model parts and Death Star prop miniatures. Many of the pieces were taken from a number of Star Wars spaceship models from the AMT/ERTL kits. Some parts include pieces from the Millenium Falcon kit, the Darth Vader TIE Fighter kit, the X-Wing Fighter kit, the AT-AT kit and the Imperial TIE Fighter kit. If I had to total up all the model kits I used, there were about 25-30 kits that were scavenged thru for parts to complete this project. If you know your Star Wars models, you will be able to see which parts were used from the models I mentioned above.
This diorama was very difficult to build. I positioned parts into place before deciding where each piece would be placed. Many parts were built up and formed into one piece and then placed on the diorama. You will notice that there are several gun turrent towers added to give the affect that the X-Wing passing by was being fired upon. The X-Wing was not constructed by me. It is a prop replica made by ICONS. When placed in the right position, it took on the look of a low flyby. It fit in nicely to complete the look I was trying to achieve.
Now that the project is completed, I am proud to display it and give everyone the oppurtunity to see and judge for themself whether it is worthy or not. So far, this is my greatest achievement. And hopefully, I will only get better ideas from this.
