Scale: Not stated
For this contest, my first ever, I decided to do a model based on a sketch that I had done in college after reading The War of The Worlds. I envisioned the Tripod War Machine more organic, more Geiger-esque, giving it a biomechanical look.
The main body is carved from dense foam, then painted with Krylon Semi-Flat paint. The thigh section is from the same foam, but from that point downward is 60 pt sheet styrene. Joints are attached together with drywall screws on the top section to connect the head to the body and the body to the thighs. The leg connections use erector set hex screws from an old kit I found onsale at the now-closed F.A.O Schwartz. The feet are also 60 pt styrene, heat-bent over a candle to soften and formed into shape. The little heat ray device (that little green thing forward of the head section) is just a bubble-head pin inserted all the way into the foam.
