THE STORY

The Red Planet, 4th one in a solar system placed in the outer rim of the galaxy, called “Mars” nowadays - but a long, long (really long) time ago, in the age of the Great Galactic Empire, when heroes were really heroes, women were really women, and small green aliens from Alpha Centauri were really small green aliens from Alpha Centauri, it was known as „Tatooine“ (You haven`t known that? Hey, live and learn!).

This is the story of an X-Wing pilot who came back from a long patrol, making a short stop at the Red Planet on his way back to the base. His R4-unit got on his nerves for quite some time that an oil change is absolute necessary. To save the credits for a guarded landing bay the pilot landed a bit outside from Mos Eisley in walking distance and went to the spaceport. He gave away his R4 unit for the oil change and visited the Cantina - and the urgently needed public conveniences. In this occasion one or two beers have been a must - maybe a few more.

When they came back to their X-Wing several hours later a big surprise was waiting: a group of Jawas has nearly completely taken the ship apart, and only the landing gear and some single parts remain. The Jawas washed their hands of it (as always), saying: „Oh, that is your X-Wing fighter? We thought it stand here since 70 years and the sandstorm of last night has uncovered it...!" THE MODEL

The diorama is in 1/72 scale and is made of the remaining parts of my Fine Molds X-Wing kit. Some parts have been superdetailed. The small Jawas are Micro Machine figures, the size fits very well. I gave them some tools made from stiff wire, screwdrivers and things like that. The base is a wooden frame with some rocks from a model railroad. I thought the model would nicely fit into the theme of the Red Planet contest when I heard from it. I hope it will enrich the contest in terms of humor and jokes. Been there, done that!
